Welcome to the Buffalo Harbor Sailing Club Crew Bank. Every year our skippers look for sailors to fill empty positions on their race boats. The talents being sought are as varied as the positions needing to be filled. While it’s always nice to find a skilled sailor, the skippers are willing to take passionate novices and help them build on their abilities so all should apply. This resource is widely used by the club. However, let us know if you haven’t been contacted. We will try to find a boat for you.
The sailing season commences in May and runs through September. As a regular member, you may apply at any point in the season. Skippers need crew for Tuesday and/or Wednesday night racing in addition to weekend regattas as posted on the club calendar. Boats generally leave the dock between 5:15 and 5:30 on weeknights. Once you are assigned to a boat, your skipper will communicate with you regarding schedules.
To submit for crew bank, you must become a regular member of the club at the current annual fee of $65 which covers 15 weeks of racing plus additional weekend events based on your availability. Beyond racing, membership has additional benefits such as reduced fees for regatta parties, monthly meetings through the winter months, training opportunities and access to other member programs. We have a very robust sailing community.
Don’t want to race but love the idea of being on the water? As a member you can request to crew on our race committee. This tight knit team scores the racers, places marks on the lake for the courses and manages radio calls. Please join the fun!
