The next BHSC general meeting will be on Tuesday, March 30th, at 7 PM at the Pearl Street Grill and Brewery. The guest speaker at the meeting will be Don Paul, meteorologist at WIVB.
Don was born and raised in New Jersey and earned his degree in Meteorology from Rutgers University. In his professional career he has experienced weather in such diverse places as Bangor, Maine; Wichita, Kansas; Tampa, Florida; and Detroit, Michigan. He arrived in Buffalo in 1984, where he fell in love with our delightful and always interesting climate. Don has been with WIVB continuously for the last 19 years and is currently the meteorologist on the station's top rated newscasts at 5, 6, and 11 PM and on sister station WNLO's #1 newscast at 10 PM. He has been repeatedly named Buffalo's Best Weather Anchor in the Artvoice Reader's Choice Poll and in 2007 the same poll chose him as Favorite Buffalo TV Personality overall. These days Don also is particularly interested in helping organize and nurture the Buffalo Weather Experience Center. Note that the meeting is being held on a Tuesday instead of the usual Wednesday in order to avoid conflicting with a Sabres game. |

Any BHSC member who has a child who is interested in attending a junior sailing program this summer is eligible to apply for a scholarship from BHSC that will help defray the cost of the lessons. Interested parties should contact Commodore Jim Kondziela or Vice Commodore Mike Barry with the details of their situation. This is a one time grant per child so if the child has received a grant in a prior year, he or she is not eligible this year. |
